Atherton Tablelands - Millaa Millaa

Milla Milla WaterfallsMillaa Millaa is the centre of the famous Waterfall Circuit, which includes Mungalli Falls, Millaa Millaa Falls, Zillie Falls, Ellinjaa Falls, and many more. The town name is the aboriginal word for ‘plenty water’, and it’s easy to see why. Green grass, rainforest, and tropical plants are everywhere to be seen.

Just west of Millaa Millaa on McHugh Road is the Millaa Millaa (or Gentle Annie) Lookout. This lookout presents 180-degree views from the northwest to the southeast of the Atherton Tablelands, including the distant coastal areas of Innisfail. This lookout is an absolute must if you enjoy taking photos, of if you want the opportunity to appreciate the unique landscape that makes up the Atherton Tablelands. There is no other lookout that offers views of this region like this one.

Highway to Milla-Milla

Millaa Millaa also serves as the top of the scenic Palmerston Highway, which ascends the mountain ranges from the coastal town of Innisfail. Along the way tremendous views of Queensland’s highest mountain, Bartle Frere, are easily seen to the north.
