About Kuranda Riverboat
The Kuranda Riverboat has been operating since 1982 during which time it has built a reputation for offering informative river cruises. One main feature has been the ability to provide quality tours at very reasonable rates without clients having to travel great distances from major accommodation centres in the Cairns region.
We operate five daily 45 minute riverboat cruises, as well as an hour long guided rainforest walk with light refreshments.
A cruise on the Kuranda Riverboat will leave you relaxed and refreshed. The calm waters of the beautiful upland Barron River in Kuranda provide great photographic opportunities whilst your skipper gives you an insight into some of the history of Kuranda, the ancient tropical rainforest and the animals, reptiles and birds that reside in this unique area of Tropical North Queensland. The river is home to freshwater crocodiles, turtles, species of fish, snakes, water dragons and many species of tropical birds.
For our guided rainforest walk you will hop aboard the Kuranda Riverboat and cross the Barron River to a secluded rainforest clearing where you will be taken on a guided interpretive walk through a section of beautiful tropical rainforest. Your guide will accompany you on an established forest trail and show you many different examples of tropical rainforest trees, vines, lianas and ferns. Part of the trail dates back to the 1920s when Dan Duggan established his tourism attraction “The Maze”, later called “Paradise”. In homage to Mr Duggan who rowed tourists across the river, in all their finery, eager to experience the beauty of the rainforest, Kuranda Riverboat Tours is recreating aspects of Mr Duggan’s original tourism venture. At the end of your guided walk you will be served light refreshments of tea, coffee and cake in our outdoor rainforest tea room.
Our cruises and guided rainforest walks depart from our riverside jetty below the Kuranda Railway/Skyrail Stations, over the railway footbridge and down the stairs.
Our tours are suitable for all ages.
