Educational programs for Secondary / University students and tailor made tours for groups
On The Wallaby Tours and Lodge have been running tours in Cairns and the Atherton Tablelands for over 20 years. We specialise in highland tropical rainforest, crater lakes and waterfalls. We also offer canoeing trips during the day and night, looking for local wildlife such as endemic possums, tree kangaroos, birds etc. To add to this experience we also take people mountain bike riding and hiking.
Over the past 6 years we have been expanding our range of tourism ventures to include educational high school and university groups. We tailor make packages to suit our groups specific curriculum needs. We supply transport, meals, and guides, so all they need to do is get here!
What we offer
On the Wallaby have day, overnight and extended tours of the Atherton Tablelands featuring all the highlights that this pristine area in North Queensland has to offer. Walking in the world’s oldest living history museum/ tropical rainforests, swimming in volcanic crater lakes and spectacular waterfalls. We also provide tours to the Outback, Cape Tribulation and the Daintree rainforest!
At On The Wallaby we try to get the right mix of work and pleasure for our students. By doing this we increase the impact and quality of work the students produce. We play games, listen to music, sing…. It’s about enjoying the area but also the journey through it. There is a way to mix work and pleasure.
Being able to study out in the field as opposed to in the class room is a far superior method of teaching as it includes the ability to touch, smell and see what we are trying to teach. It gives the students first hand contact and increases their awareness of the wider world, something that travelling can easily provide.
